Plastic Coatings
Plastics,
CDs, Polycarbonate Lenses
Van Technologies offers a full
line of UV curable coatings specifically designed for application on a number of
polycarbonate surfaces and other plastic and metallized surfaces. The Radur line of coatings do not
require solvent evaporation prior to cure and are extremely durable and mar resistant. The SuperCD coatings have
passed a number of tests to qualify them as market leaders in the protection of CDs. They display excellent crosshatch adhesion through
a number of variations including extreme heat, cold, and water soaking tests. The CD coatings perform very well on a number of
other tests including abrasion resistance, flexibility, and condensation fog tests.
Here are the plastic coatings available at Van
Technologies:
Radur 100
Radur 100 is an environmentally compliant, low
viscosity coating that exhibits good flexibility. When
applied at 0.50 mil or less, the coating cures rapidly and passes crosshatch tape tests to
polycarbonate surfaces without the need for a primer.
The coating also passes tape tests on aluminized, gold plated, and other
difficult to adhere to surfaces. In addition,
the resulting cured coating allows for tight adhesion of topcoated graphics and labeling,
if so desired. Radur 100 is ultra low in viscosity so it can be
easily sprayed, dipped, or spin coat applied. Once
coated, materials cure in one pass at 60 feet/minute with a D bulb. Modifications of this formulation are possible.
Radur 125
Radur 125 is an environmentally compliant, low
viscosity coating that exhibits good flexibility. When applied at 0.50 mil or less, the
coating cures rapidly and passes crosshatch tape tests to polycarbonate surfaces without
the need for a primer. The coating also passes
tape tests on aluminized, gold plated, and other difficult to adhere to surfaces. In addition, the resulting cured coating allows for
tight adhesion of topcoated graphics and labeling, if so desired. Radur 125
is ultra low in viscosity so it can be easily sprayed, dipped, or spin coat applied. Once coated, materials cure in one pass at 60
feet/minute with a D bulb. Modifications
of this formulation are possible.
Radur 150
Radur 150 is an environmentally compliant, low
viscosity, tintable, printable coating exhibiting good flexibility for polycarbonate and
molded plastics. When applied at 0.75 mil or
less, our coating cures rapidly and passes cross-hatch and tape tests to polycarbonate and
a wide variety of molded plastics. it should
be noted that some blushing may occur if the thickness exceeds 1 mil due to potential
solvent interaction with the plastic surface. in
addition, plastics coated with our abrasion resistant coating are tintable and can achieve
percent transmission values of 10 or less in 15-20 minutes using standard dyes. Radur 150
is an ultra low viscosity coating that can easily be applied by spray, dip, or spin
coating. Once coated, Radur 150 cures
in one pass at 40 feet/minute with a D bulb or 23 seconds or less with an
H bulb. Radur 150 does not require solvent evaporation
prior to cure. Modifications of this
formulation, including higher solids and viscosity are possible.
Radur 175
Radur 175 is an environmentally compliant,
tintable, low viscosity coating that exhibits good flexibility. When applied at 0.50 mil or less, the coating cures
rapidly and passes crosshatch tape tests to polycarbonate surfaces without the need for a
primer. The coating also passes tape tests on
aluminized, gold plated, and other difficult to adhere to surfaces. In addition, the resulting cured coating allows for
tight adhesion of topcoated graphics and labeling, if so desired in the target
application. Materials coated with our Radur 175 will be abrasion resistant, tintable,
and can achieve percent transmission values of 10 or less in 15-20 minutes using standard
dyes. Radur 175 is an ultra low viscosity
coating that can easily be applied by spray, dip, or spin coating. Once coated, Radur 175 cures in one pass at 50 feet/minute with
a D bulb. Modifications of this
formulation are possible.
Radur 180
Radur 180 is an environmentally compliant, low
viscosity, tintable, printable coating exhibiting good flexibility for gold metallized
compact disks. When applied at 0.50 mil or
less, the coating cures rapidly and passes tape tests to gold metallized CDs. in addition, the coating passes tape tests on
aluminum surfaces and cross-hatch and tape tests on polycarbonate. Materials coated with Radur 180 are abrasion resistant, tintable, and
can achieve percent transmission values of 10 or less in 15-20 minutes using standard
dyes. Radur 180 is an ultra low viscosity
coating that can easily be applied by spray, dip, or spin coating. Once coated, Radur 180 cures in one pass at 50 feet/minute with
a D bulb. Modifications of this
formulation are possible.
SuperCD-Coat Type KF1
KF1 is an environmentally compliant, low
viscosity, printable coating exhibiting good flexibility for gold metallized compact
disks. When applied at 0.50 mil or less, the
coating cures rapidly and passes tape tests to gold metallized CDs. In addition, the coating passes tape tests on
aluminum surfaces and cross-hatch and tape tests on polycarbonate. KF1 is an ultra low viscosity
coating that can easily be sprayed, dipped, or spin coat applied. Once coated, materials cure in one pass at 60
feet/minute with a D bulb. Modifications
of this formulation are possible.
SuperCD-Coat KF2
KF2 is an environmentally compliant, low
viscosity, tintable, printable coating exhibiting good flexibility for gold metallized
compact disks. When applied at 0.50 mil or
less, the coating cures rapidly and passes tape tests to gold metallized CDs. In addition, the coating passes tape tests on
aluminum surfaces and cross-hatch and tape tests on polycarbonate. Materials coated with KF2 will be abrasion resistant, tintable, and can
achieve percent transmission values of 10 or less in 15-20 minutes using standard dyes. KF2 is
an ultra low viscosity coating that can easily be sprayed, dipped, or spin coat applied. Once coated, materials cure in one pass at 50
feet/minute with a D bulb. Modifications
of this formulation are possible.
SuperCD-Coat KF3
KF3 is an environmentally compliant, low
viscosity, tintable, printable coating exhibiting good flexibility for aluminum and gold
metallized compact disks. When applied at 0.50 mil or less, the coating cures rapidly and
passes tape tests to CDs. In addition,
the coating passes tape tests on polycarbonate. materials
coated with KF3 are tintable and can achieve
percent transmission values of 10 or less in 15-20 minutes using standard azo dyes. KF3 is
an ultra low viscosity coating that can easily be sprayed, dipped, or spin coat applied. Once coated, materials cure in one pass at 60
feet/minute with an H or D bulb.
Modifications of this formulation are possible.
SuperCd-Coat KF4
KF4 is an environmentally compliant, low
viscosity, printable coating exhibiting good flexibility for aluminum and gold metallized
compact disks. When applied at 0.50 mil or less, the coating cures rapidly and passes tape
tests to CDs. In addition, the coating
passes tape tests on polycarbonate. KF4 is ultra low in viscosity and can be easily
sprayed, dipped, or spin coat applied. Once
coated, KF4 cures in one pass at 60 feet/minute
